Just a short story what I have experienced from my background being a pilot, captain of an airplane. The airlines provide barf bags, but the dirty secret is that passengers often don’t use them. They throw up on the floor and the seats. This is not a society that cleans up after itself.
If a plane sits for longer than eight hours — typically a long-haul jet — then the airline will perform a deep clean. During a deep clean, every seat cushion is removed, the seats are vacuumed and the carpet is shampooed throughout the cabin.
However, during the course of an aircraft’s day, it will have turnaround periods between flights that minimize what work can be done. For low-cost airlines with busy schedules, these periods can be as short as half an hour. When you consider that this time also includes disembarking one set of passengers and boarding another, cleaning time is limited.
The airport taught me lessons that school could not—about business, strategizing, work ethics, and the value of a Rand – we worked so hard for our money. But I needed to go beyond. At the age of 40, I resigned from the corporate world and finally learned what it meant that my job was temporary, and my education is forever.
From the time of my resignation in 2013, I enter the Entrepreneur world of cleaning and the manufacturing of cleaning products.
